- The word Sarcophagus refers to the carved, generally stone case in which the linen-wrapped mummy was placed. This year for Halloween Reg is going to be a Mummy, as in "The Mummy" , the famous movie from 1932 starring Boris Karloff and Zita Johann. When Grandpa and I researched the movie, we found out lot's of interesting tidbits. There was a lot of footage shot with Boris Karloff in the Mummy costume, but only a little of it was actually used because the director though using less would leave more to the imagination and be more frightening for the movie audience. The costume was put on with glue but no arrangement was made to go to the bathroom. To see a 3 part You tube series about the movie, go to this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEhouFzD7KY Picture 1 Using thin wood board, foam board and expanding insulation a Sarcophagus shape is made with glues, cutting, and filing. Picture 2 white plaster/hole filler covers everything for a base. Picture 3 Double layers are added to base for stabilization, durability and bottom extendtion. Weights have to be used to be sure glue is tight. Picture 4 Top cover is shaped. Both bottom and top have to fitted together perfectly.
If you ever have wondered what Reg & Val are up to, here are some of our pictures for U 2 check out :)
